As Prep's junior Class of 2019 prepares to assume a leading role in the life of the school next year, the class gathered, along with their families and members of the Prep family, for Mass on Wednesday morning. It was a moment to give thanks for the gifts of three years at Prep, and to celebrate the promise of senior year and its many opportunities.
During a ceremony held in conjunction with Wednesday's Junior Class Mass, 72 members of the Class of 2019 were inducted to Prep's McNally-Sinnott Chapter of the National Honor Society, for their excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
In the course of two different DC-area Prep events last weekend, alumni demonstrated yet again that the bonds formed at Grand & Warren extend far beyond. On Thursday, Ken von Schaumburg, '86 hosted Prep's annual DC Alumni Happy Hour, welcoming fellow alumni and members of Prep's administration at the offices of Clark Hill PLC on the National Mall. On Friday, Theo Holloway, '81 welcomed a group of current students to the nation's capital as part of an Ebony Club weekend trip.
As Prep students were away from campus Wednesday for Prep Day and Freshman Arts Day, a new generation of potential Prep men took their place for the day. Some 60 middle school students from seventeen Catholic, private, and charter schools gathered for Prep's 5th Annual Middle School Leadership Conference.
Last weekend, more than 300 guests gathered to enjoy the 11th Annual Grand Gala at the Westin Jersey City Newport. The evening was filled with fun and excitement thanks to the live and silent auctions, plus live music and dancing. But more importantly, it was filled with enough generosity and Prep pride to help raise $300,000 for financial aid to Prep students and their families.
