The goal of the Prep Alumni Association is to promote and advance the best interests of Saint Peter's Prep in its religious, educational and charitable functions, to strengthen the bond between its alumni and the school, and to foster fraternity among alumni.
If you are interested in becoming more actively involved at Prep and joining an Alumni Board commitee please email both Mike Murcia, '08, Director of Alumni Relations (MurciaM@spprep.org) and Mike Cardino, '92, Alumni Board President (email@example.com) and they will be in touch with you.
Dear Prep Brothers,
In all honesty, for an academically lazy teenager, Prep was quite a challenge for me. While a student, I didn’t realize all the good I was getting from the school. Not until I went through college and got started in my career as a teacher did I finally appreciate all that I learned from my Jesuit education at Prep.
With that realization and appreciation came a feeling of responsibility to give back some of the countless values that Prep had given me. So before the summer of 2000, I approached John Irvine, ’83 who was and remains the director of the Higher Achievement Program or HAP as it’s usually called. I was lucky enough that there was a position available and so began my summer career as a HAP teacher. The summer of 2015 was my sixteenth summer teaching HAP, and I’m already looking forward to beginning my seventeenth so I can begin another summer of giving back and hopefully helping other boys realize that Prep is the place to be for 4 years of their teenage lives.
Rewinding to 2012, I wanted to find another way of giving back to the school that had done so much for me. I contacted then President, Fr. Robert Reiser, S.J. I asked if there was a chance that I would be considered to serve on the alumni board. Fr. Reiser and I had become close, I was a student of his and when he returned to serve as President, my wife and I had the pleasure of having him baptize our daughter. With his help I began serving on the alumni board, and I was able to start giving back to the school in another capacity.
One important thing I learned from Prep is that you never leave the school and the school never leaves you. From developing friendships with classmates as well as teachers like Fr. Anthony Aracich, S.J, who I remained close with until his death in 2013, and with Fr. James Keenan, S.J., who were both celebrants at my wedding, Prep has remained in my life since the day I began in September of 1988 to the day I graduated in 1992 and to the present. I will always be indebted to the school for giving me so much and culminating in me serving as the school’s alumni association president.
I would like to close as our past Alumni President Bob Colacurcio ’73 always has,
Sub Umbra Petri

The Alumni Board takes an active role in the leadership of the Alumni Association, working closely with Prep's staff to organize alumni events, select award recipients and, most importantly, support the mission of Jesuit education at Grand & Warren.
