Message from the President

January 2018

Dear Friends,

As we begin 2018, we are about to send out acceptance letters to the class of 2022, our sesquicentennial class.  They will take their place in the long tradition of one hundred and fifty years of Jesuit education serving young men, many of them immigrants, from Jersey City and throughout northern New Jersey and beyond.  At the same time, they are a new opportunity for us to provide a challenging, faith-based, college preparatory education for men born in the twenty-first century.

When you scroll through different parts of our site, you will discover a vast array of course offerings, retreat and service programs, activities and sports to offer our young men the opportunity to grow as a whole person, mind, body and soul.

One area of expansion in our programs has been the increase in opportunities for an international experience.  Global awareness is a strategic priority for Prep at 150 and we are proud to have traditional, language based, exchange programs with a Catholic school in Germany and Jesuit schools in France, Italy and Spain.  In addition, we have established a relationship with a Jesuit school in Lima, Peru which offers the opportunity for students to visit Peru in the context of other academic courses.  This summer we will also have a summer course which includes a visit to Taiwan. There are also service trips to Ecuador.  Each of these opportunities exposes the students to a different culture and perspective.  These young men will live and work in a global environment and we try to help them see the world from many different perspectives.

All of this is based in the vision of St. Ignatius Loyola to discover God in the beauty and goodness of all creation.

Technology has given us access to incredible amount of information simultaneously.  Learning how to be discerning consumers of this information is consistent with our mission and the challenge we and they face moving forward.
Welcome to Saint Peter’s Prep, and to our website.  I hope you will find these pages informative and helpful.

Rev. Kenneth Boller, S.J.

Father Boller assumed the presidency of Saint Peter's Prep during the summer of 2013, becoming Prep's 27th president. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1964, and has committed most of his five decades as a Jesuit to the mission of education, mainly at the secondary level.

Fr. Boller taught mathematics at Xavier High School in Manhattan from 1969-72, and served as dean of co-curricular activities from 1975-78. From 1979-1986 he served as principal of Canisius High School in Buffalo, then returned to Xavier in 1986, serving as headmaster and then president until 1997. After seven years as pastor of Saint Aloysius Church in Harlem, with a focus on the growth and development of the parish’s school, Fr. Boller was appointed president of Fordham Prep in 2004.
