Prep Hosts Jesuit Educators from Germany

Two administrators from Canisius-Kolleg in Berlin – one of three Jesuit high schools in Germany – and two staff members from the Center for Ignatian Pedagogy in Ludwigshafen visited Prep this week. The group met with members of Prep's faculty ands staff to learn about Ignatian formation programs at Grand & Warren. While in the United States, the group also visited Regis High School in Manhattan, and Saint Ignatius College Prep in Chicago.

Pictured with Mr. DeAngelo and Fr. Boller are, left to right: Fr. Johann Spermann, S.J.; Ms. Gabriele Huedepohl, principal of Canisius-Kolleg; Ms. Ulrike Gentner; and Fr. Tobias Zimmermann, S.J., president of Canisus-Kolleg.

The Prep/Canisius-Kolleg connection dates to the mid-1990s, when Mr. DeAngelo taught English for a year at Canisius-Kolleg as part of a teacher exchange program (Mr. Stefan Brendgens taught German at Prep as part of the same exchange). "Tobias and Gabriele began their careers at CK that same year," Mr. DeAngelo explained, "and we have been in contact ever since."
