Prep's Italian Club is celebrating Italian Cultural and Heritage Month throughout the month of October. Club members and Italian-language students will enjoy a full slate of events celebrating the art, music, cuisine and more that contribute to the richness of Italian and Italian-American culture, and the club is glad to extend an invitation to all who would like to join in.
During the weekend of September 25-27, Emmaus 253 blazed a new trail for the 33-year-old retreat program for juniors, becoming the first group to travel their own road to Emmaus at the Warwick Center, a 650-acre retreat campus in Orange County, New York.
In continuing to build on the close-knit alumni community that has been a Prep hallmark for decades, and a strong tradition of professional mentoring in numerous fields, three Prep alumni have established a Saint Peter’s Prep group on LinkedIn. Now they ask your help in strengthening this endeavor by supporting this professional networking effort.
Prep celebrated the first steps in the ongoing transformation of the campus at Grand & Warren on Thursday, September 23, with the dedication of O'Keefe Commons, three new classrooms and a complex of new music facilities. The ceremonies were followed by the 2010 President's Reception, which gave nearly 400 supporters and friends of Prep with a festive formal introduction to the new facilities.
Seven Prep seniors have been named as Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program for 2011, based on their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT during junior year.
Only about 50,000 students – the top 3% of the approximately 1.5 million students who participate in the National Merit program each year – earn will attain Commended Student status or better. Commended Students receive a Letter of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise, and may be eligible for special scholarships through various corporate sponsors.
